About Cherry Hill Seminary

The Seminary has chosen to fulfill its mission primarily through online classes. All matriculated students are assigned a Faculty Advisor to help them design and follow a plan of study that meets program graduation requirements. Online classes often include required readings, regular postings to a designated class discussion list, and weekly chatroom class discussions. In addition, matriculated students are required to attend a minimum number of on-campus intensives designed to allow students to meet one another, receive faceto- face instruction and advice from faculty, and build school community. Qualified Pagan clergy who are not matriculated students at Cherry Hill Seminary are also welcome to take our courses for continuing education.

The Seminary currently offers training in two primary areas: Public Ministry and Pagan Pastoral Counseling. Areas of study within the Public Ministry program include: Community Ritual, Interfaith Development, Leadership and Administration, and Pastoral Care as a Public Minister.

Recent surveys indicate that Paganism is one of the fastest growing religions in the United States. The popularity of Witchcraft, Druidry and Paganism is reflected in the critical acclaim and financial success of the many books, films and prime-time televisions shows involving aspects of Paganism. People are exploring and turning to Paganism in droves.

This popularity, however, does not come without a price. An increase in Pagan practitioners has created a demand for teachers, leaders and professionally trained clergy. Cherry Hill Seminary is trying to meet this growing demand. We seek to:

  • help experienced and skilled current Pagan clergy supplement their education with training geared toward professional ministry skills rather than basic magickal skills;
  • help those newly called to Pagan ministry to get a comprehensive education in all aspects of Pagan thealogy, practice and committed ministry;
  • support Pagan communities reaching out for a qualified Pagan clergy for legal and sacred rites, education, leadership, networking, and pastoral counseling.

Although the Seminary offers courses in the knowledge and skills often taught at certain "degrees" in various traditions, the Seminary does not offer degrees or initiations of any sort.  Students seeking such training are encouraged to find groups or organizations outside of the Seminary training to meet those needs.
