Personality Theories

An in-depth survey of the theories of personality, presenting major theorists who represent the psychoanalytic, neopsychoanalytic, lifespan, traits, humanistic, cognitive, behavioral, and social-learning approaches as well as clinical and experimental work. The course will also explore how race, gender, and culture issues figure in the study of personality and in personality assessment. Finally, we will briefly examine some of the issues of genetics, environment, learning, parental influences, developmental aspects, conscious and unconscious influences.
